The Local Studies and Archives Service will be closed on Thursday 7 August. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Croydon Local Studies Library and Archives Service is the place to come for information on Croydon and its people past, present and future. It is open to everyone, free of charge, and you dont need a readers ticket. There are always members of staff on duty to guide and assist, and, whether you have a general interest or a specific enquiry, we will be pleased to help you. Booking is not necessary, but it may help if you contact us in advance to find out about the availability of material. Material in the Local Studies and Archives is for use in the library only, and cannot be borrowed. Selected books on local history, which can be borrowed in the normal way, will be found on Level 3 of the Central Library, and in all branches of Croydon Libraries. PCs with internet access, microfilm and fiche readerprinters are available. We do not operate a booking system for these machines, but a queuing system will operate at times of heavy use. A public photocopier and camera copying stand are available. There may be restrictions on copying certain items because of copyright regulations, or because of the fragile condition of the material.
