Surf Football Club was founded in 2003 by Keith Lippett and William Penfold for kids living on the Christie Drive Estate in South Norwood. It began with just a single team which had several teething problems but managed to overcome them. William moved on during the second season due to other commitments. Desmond Ford Keiths Assistant at the time, Blaize Desouza, Juliet Piggott and Keith Lippett continued to expand the club with two teams An Under 14s and an Under 15s. It soon became obvious, from the interest shown in the club by the local youngsters, that the club would inevitably have to grow to accommodate more age groups. With a new committee formed for the 200405 season, three teams were entered into the Tandridge Youth Football League at age groups under 16, under 15 and under 14. Having spent two seasons on the side lines supporting their older siblings the time came to form teams for the dedicated young ones who had stood and supported the older boys teams, come rain or shine. They were just itching to give it a go themselves And so, with some money raised from the sponsored Kick for Clic event, held to raise cash for children with Cancer and Leukemia and an amazingly generous donation from South London Family Housing of £2000, The 2000506 season saw five youth teams emerge including a 9ASide team at Under 11s and a MiniSoccer 7ASide team at Under 9s.
