Brent Knoll School is a mixed special school for pupils aged 4 16. We meet the needs of children and pupils who have health problems, speech, language and social and communication difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders, including Aspergers Syndrome; physical disabilities and mild learning difficulties. Brent Knoll is responsible for the management of the University Hospital Lewisham Education and Outreach Service. At Brent Knoll we aim to provide a curriculum similar to a mainstream school but differentiated to meet the needs of all our pupils. Around this core curriculum we aim to support our pupils’ educational and personal development through the work of other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. We have an experienced and motivated staff team who are committed to working with pupils with special educational needs. There is a strong emphasis on the professional development of all staff and the school has been awarded Investor in People status. Pupils are referred to Brent Knoll School if they have special educational needs that require a secure, structured and supportive environment, small classes, access to medical support and associated therapies. We welcome informal visits from parents and carers who are considering a place at Brent Knoll for their child. Our community is made up of pupils, staff, governors, parents and members of the local community.
