I was brought up in S.E. London with my parents and two brothers. Whilst doing my A levels, I worked for a London Council, assessing the needs of disabled people living in the area. After my A levels, I was employed by the Inland Revenue for several years, after which time I travelled and did restaurant work in America for a year. The broad range of people and cultures that I experienced up to this point encouraged my interest in human nature. Wishing to develop this further I enrolled on a Psychology Degree in the early 1990s. However, disappointed with this courses neglect of psychotherapeutic theory and practice, after completing it I sought to rectify this. I did two introductory counselling courses in existential and gestalt therapy, as well as working in a befriendingcounselling capacity at a homeless hostel and at Victims Support. I trained for three years as a psychotherapist at Regents College, London where I achieved a PostGraduate Diploma and Masters Degree. I finished my therapeutic training at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education, which led to UKCP registration. During this training I practiced therapy in a NHS Centre for three and a half years, as well as at Mind for two years. I also provide therapy to those with substance abuse issues, having done such work for the Addiction Psychology Services Department of the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.
