Enfield is London’s northernmost borough and one of the largest by land area and population, being home to about 280,000 people. It is 12 miles from the centre of London with which it is connected by four rail lines and one tube line the Piccadilly. It is served by two major orbital roads – the M25 motorway and London’s North Circular Road A406. Enfield has a large population of both 014s and older people in comparison to the rest of London. The child population is also large compared to the national average. Enfield’s population is quite diverse – state school pupils have recorded themselves under 87 different ethnic groups. The single largest minority grouping recorded in the 2001 Census was Other White at 13 this is composed largely of Greek, Turkish and Cypriots. Enfield is home to three campuses of Middlesex University, one of the largest in the country and the most popular UK university for international students. Leisure attractions include sports centres, major open spaces such as Trent Country Park, the Millfield and Chicken Shed theatres, Forty Hall and Capel Manor Gardens.
