The Boat Race passes under Hammersmith bridge and Barnes railway bridge, but starts just below Putney bridge and ends just before Chiswick bridge. The current Hammersmith bridge is the second permanent bridge on the site, designed by Sir Joseph Bazalgette and completed in 1887.h in Sydney in 2000 in the Mens coxless Four and then 6th in the 2004 Athens Games in the Mens coxless Pair.
