Southern Sporting Motor Cycle Club in UK Resources Directory

The Southern Sporting MCC was founded in 1938 and is based in West London, primarily around the boroughs of Hounslow, Richmond, Kingston & Elmbridge. Today the clubs activities revolve mainly around three main areas, namely the social side of motorcycling, independent learner motorcycle training and Off Road Trials competition. The Club is affiliated to the BMF and SE Centre ACU. The club has an active social side, with Bank Holiday weekends away and numerous runs throughout the year as well as pub evenings and other events such as track days and the National Rally. The Southern Sporting MCC has been training motorcyclists since 1948 and was one of the first RACACU training schemes in the country. Today as then all instructors are trained volunteers, although the scheme became fully independent when the RAC withdrew from Training in 1982. The Southern Sporting Training Scheme offers members DSA approved training and testing to CBT standard, onward development up to the accompanied test standard and can offer DSA approved post test training under the Enhanced Rider Scheme ERS. The Training Scheme is based in Isleworth, Middlesex and operates on Saturday afternoons. In its time the Southern Sporting MCC has organised and participated in a wide range of motorcycle sports including Road Racing, Grasstrack, Scrambles Motorcross and Trials. Today the sporting side of the club still exists with our membership of the SE centre ACU and Star Group Trials combine. The club runs an annual trial and recently some members have started road racing again in an amateur road stock series. New members are always welcome. If you are interested in joining or just wish to come along and have a look, please do not hesitate to contact Robert Wood the Club Secretary.
