THE MELJON SINGERS is one of Londons most accomplished and enterprising chamber choirs. Established since 1990 in the London Borough of Redbridge, the group performs regularly in local and central London venues, and appears by invitation in other parts of the UK. In 2007 the group performed in Italy for the third time, with concerts in the Cinque Terre resorts of Levanto and Vernazza. With their founder Musical Director Janette Ruocco, THE MELJON SINGERS bring to their performances a spirit of adventure and a passion for musicmaking. Their concerts include music as diverse Palestrinas 16th century polyphony, Romantic classics like Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem, modern minimalist masters such as John Tavener and Arvo Pärt and the wealth of new choral writing from all over the world. The groups repertoire is constantly expanding, offering audiences fresh and original programmes devised to shed new light on familiar works and to explore littleknown or unjustly neglected music. Since 2005, admittance by ticket to our concerts has been free to under18s, demonstrating the groups commitment to offering young audiences the opportunity to experience, live, the expressive possibilities inherent in choral music.
